At the Eleventh International Forum “Transport of Russia” the Sixth International Convention “ERA-GLONASS” was held

At the Eleventh International Forum “Transport of Russia” the  Sixth International Congress “ERA-GLONASS”, organized by JSC  GLONASS, was held. In total, the congress featured three major events: a plenary discussion “GLONASS Technologies in Digital Economy,” a round table “Partnership Policy of GLONASS,” and a round table “Emerging Technologies and Innovative Solutions of GLONASS”.

The plenary discussion entitled “GLONASS Technologies in Digital Economy” was dedicated to the future role of this technology in digital economy; international cooperation issues, and the technical intricacies of system operation.

Opening the congress and plenary discussion, the  Minister of Transport of the Russian Federation Maxim Sokolov addressed the participants with a welcome speech: “Extending my welcome to the participants of the congress, I would like to note that in the era of growing transportation flows such a system as ERA-GLONASS is crucially important for us.”

Among those who greeted the guests of the congress was  Nikolay Nikiforov, Minister of Telecom and Mass Communications of the Russian Federation: “Road workers and telecommunications workers should team up. Today, JSC GLONASS is creating an ecosystem to provide a basis for rendering a full range of services.”

Sergey Ten, Member of State Duma Committee on Transport and Construction of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation, welcomed the delegates, noting that ERA-GLONASS technology is one of the most important foundations for transport digitization.  “In seven years we plan to reach 100% coverage”, he said.

Opening the discussion,   Andrey Zheregelya, CEO of JSC GLONASS, reported to the delegates on the work done, and spoke on the company's plans for the near future:  “We are developing emerging technologies, supporting the development of the Internet of things, planning to create a PPP network. We also want to develop a commercial affiliate network, and believe that insurance and information services will be the most promising commercial areas for us.”

Within the round table “Partnership Policy of GLONASS”, the intricacies of the company's relationship with its technological and commercial partners, system technical capacity and its growth points were discussed. At the last event of the Congress - the round table “Emerging Technologies and Innovative Solutions of GLONASS” - transport industry experts discussed such topics as the company's technology strategy and system upgrading and application on various modes of transport.
